130 inch image with laser technology! THE PREMIERE... Everything is possible!
The first time I saw a projector, it was huge!!!
At the beginning of the projector market, there were many constraints and not everyone could afford it. As if the bill was not enough, people had to dedicate a totally dark room for its installation, the device measured one square meter (36 inches by 36) and they required fine adjustments for the balance of the colors and the focus. The three bulbs used to illuminate the three primary color guns, red, blue and green, had a life span of a few hundred hours. Needless to say, watching everyday TV on a projected screen was out of the question...
The product has been refined over the years, but was always designed for occasional use. Even with an increased life span of thousands of hours for the now unique projection lamp, daily listening did not provide more than a year or two before refurbishing the lamp and lenses... very expensive.
Personally, I hated it, because yes, although it was very large, the image was dark and lifeless, it required fixing the thing to the ceiling, running wires through the walls, adjusting the lens which would get out of adjustment as long as you had a home theater that vibrated the room and... dust would lodge on the inner lens.
All this is now a thing of the past with Samsung's laser technology. Let me demonstrate each of the above mentioned annoyances that are no longer of the account. I have to admit, this is fabulous...
GO!
Ugly projector of the 80s ...
No more constraints thanks to a projector more versatile than a conventional TV.
It will be about the principle of ultra-short throw projector, technology embraced by Samsung with its range The Premiere. This projector is placed a few inches from a wall which makes its installation in the room, a charm. That's a good start, isn't it! But that's not all, it's compact and lightweight so you can squeeze it in when you're not using it. No more unsightly devices on the ceiling.
Unlike the devices of the past, it now has a good sound system for daily listening. With its 20,000 hours without degradation of the laser transmitter, you can watch the "GIANT" TV the same way as if it were a traditional TV!
Plus, to really make everyday TV in these modern times, all the smart TV applications are included such as web search, YouTube, but especially Netflix. It doesn't get much more "home theater" than this: select a movie and sit back in your favorite chair to watch the action unfold on a 130-inch screen in your own home!
Finally, there is no need for a screen cloth although it is preferable, the brightness is such that the need for total darkness is no longer a requirement. Good opaque curtains will do for daytime use.
Portable and compact LSP9T
Laser technology is the key!
With the accuracy of a laser emitter or even 3 emitters on the top of the line Samsung Premiere 9, you will see all the details of a 4K Ultra High Resolution image. Every pixel is reproduced on your screen with surgical precision. Movements are fluid, as the laser traces the action before your eyes at lightning speed!
From a technical point of view, we note that the DCI-P3 colorimetric standard is reproduced at 83% on the model with one laser LSP7T and 106% for the LSP9T with three lasers, which gives an image very faithful to the source. In terms of brightness, we are not outdone since the Premiere projectors have a power of 2200 and 2800 lumens respectively. (Pronounce lumen) This dazzling performance is in line with an average conventional non-QLED TV.
Laser accuracy...
Circuits and functions worthy of the best television sets.
The Samsung Premiere uses the HDR10+ standard which allows the same dynamic ratio as the TVs of the brand, but in a projo. HDR means High Dynamic Range, that is to say a high dynamic level of color and contrast. It is this standard that makes this projector does not give a bland image as in the past, but an intense image especially in video games.
Thanks to the classic Samsung TV remote control, you will have access to all the "Smart" functions such as the choice of Netflix, YouTube, Prime TV, Samsung TV Plus content and so much more! It is possible to do Google searches or work on your files with Office 365 nuagiques, there is almost no end to what you can do, and don't forget, the life of the product is similar to a conventional TV!
A voice-activated projector...
Once again, the projector of yesteryear can put on its clothes, as The Premiere incorporates the Alexa Assistant integrated with Quebec French as well as Bixby. This allows for remote settings, activation of your other connected devices in the house as well as all your streaming content searches. Of course, it answers you, it has its own speakers!
Multiple applications and voice control
AirPlay 2
It's a far cry from the days when you had to have an "Apple TV". With built-in AirPlay 2, you can easily play movies, watch shows, listen to music and view photos on La Première directly from your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
- AirPlay 2 functionality is available on all Samsung 2020 and later smart services.
- AirPlay 2 requires iOS 12.3 or later and on Mac iOS 10.14.5 or later.
Tap View
Owners of connected products other than Apple such as the Android platform will also be able to view their content.
With a simple touch, your smartphone content will be displayed on the screen. Just press The Premiere with your phone and it will automatically mirror what you are watching or listening to.
Game mode
I admit that it feels weird to talk to you about game mode, but here we are!
As soon as you start your console, the TV automatically switches to optimization ensuring a fluidity and intensity to the image similar to a TV of say ... 55 inches, but there, it happens on 130 INCHES!
And as the projo has its own speakers, we start quickly, it is wow!
The most important: the Filmmaker mode.
In addition to the many performance-enhancing technologies that are part of The Premiere, the Cinematographer's Mode compares favorably to the THX setting of yesteryear. As a reminder, George Lucas established a color standard for his Star Wars films. This norm was to become a standard to aim for in the world of modern film distribution. Today we are doing the same thing, but with the help of the intelligent technologies of our time.
Designed to preserve the creative intent of filmmakers, Filmmaker Mode promises viewers an authentic cinematic experience on The Premiere. It ensures that they can enjoy movies in ideal conditions with the image as the filmmaker and his technical team intended. The Filmmaker Mode is the result of a partnership between Samsung and the UHD Alliance and Hollywood film studios, supported by prestigious directors including Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Paul Thomas Anderson, Ang Lee, Ava DuVernay, JJ Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan or Ryan Coogler. We will be, in contrast to THX, in a collaboration to ensure a result that is unanimous ...
Most people don't make any adjustments to their TVs, too complicated and often the taste of one doesn't satisfy the taste of the other inhabitants of the household, we just don't touch it!
The calibration of a television or projector to obtain a "cinema" image is not so simple and requires some technical knowledge that not everyone has.
With Filmmaker Mode, you don't have to do anything, just watch a movie with the encoded information and the Premiere projector will make corrections as the scenes (dark, fast, high contrast, etc., etc.) demand it.
Filmaker mode: main specifications
The Filmmaker mode integrates all of these automations, which is no small feat!
- Application of the D65 reference white point for both SDR and HDR content (6500°K). (Ensures compliant tints)
- Respect of the native frame rate of the film (frame rate: 24, 25, 30, 48, 50 or 60 frames per second). (Ensures an exact fluidity of the movements as in the cinema)
- Respect of the native image format (height/width ratio): cinemascope (2.39:1), Panavision (2.35:1), American standard 35 mm (1.85:1)...
- Deactivation of the Motion Plus smoothing process at Samsung. (The TV will no longer decide or interpret fast movements)
- Disable overscanning, unless otherwise specified in the content metadata. (Prevents recreating an artificial image called enhanced while keeping the rendering "as is")
- Deactivation of the sharpness processing (Fidelity)
- Noise reduction disable (Fidelity)
- Disable other image enhancement treatments (Fidelity)

Cutting-edge lifestyle design.
What I like about this product is that it is beautiful and discreet. The rounded shape and white color don't ruin it. Plus, it incorporates a sound system worthy of the best sound bars with acoustic beam technology using 22 holes to distribute deep, rich sound that fills the entire room, maximizing immersion left and right. Projected sound system.
The configuration is 4.2.2 and includes a subwoofer (ultra low bass). The power is sufficient for normal listening with 40 watts of output. The processor is a Dolby Digital Plus. The sound is adaptive which means that the sound is adjusted for clearer dialogue.
The startup is instantaneous which also contrasts with the old devices that started in one or two minutes ...
The single remote control allows, like all Samsung TVs, to integrate all your peripherals into a single "controller" 😉
Finally, the integrated Bluetooth broadcast will allow to listen more discreetly...
The last word
As always, my goal is not to sell this or that technology, but to make its existence known. For the last ten years, the world of electronics has been developing at high speed and there is no lack of surprises. In some cases, like this one, it is no longer a question of improvement, but of reinventing the parameters and criteria of a product class.
I didn't tell you about price, but considering that an 85-inch TV of comparable quality costs over $5,000 or even $15,000 for an 8K, The Premiere starting at $4,999 isn't so bad in the end.
This will complete this series on Samsung's special TV products.
Stay tuned!
Christian.
